India Cruse-Griffin

My name is India Cruse Griffin. I am a professional collage artist and retired Art teacher. My art is based on my family and growing up in a small, multicultural midwestern city in Indiana, and is created with a collection of newspapers, magazines, and acrylic paint.

In my earlier years as an artist and art teacher, I was very much a perfectionist and spent many detailed hours on my art. Soon marrying and then starting a family drastically changed my artistic design and style, especially in what I was able to accomplish in a certain period of time. My style now is very free and textural, with a lot of color and spirit.

I began showing and exhibiting my art throughout the county in art galleries, university exhibitions, and museums, all while I continued to create art and teach High School Art simultaneously. I have served on many art and education-related committees throughout the state and have served as an Indiana Art Commissioner. I retired from teaching in May 2023 and have continued my artistic career, completing works for Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Butter Fine Arts Fair, and Indiana University, as well as many other venues.
