Welcome Back Mike!
Hey! My name is Big Mike! I was formally a high school intern, and I’m now working the front desk at the Harrison Center.
I’m a Sophomore in college at Ivy Tech. During my freshman year of highschool, I learned about the Harrison Center through a staff person at school. He asked me what I liked, and I told him I liked to make music. He then got me in contact with Joanna Taft, director of the Harrison Center. When Joanna asked me what I like doing with music, I told her I loved to rap. She said, ”I have something for you,” and the rest was history.
There’s so many things I’ve done since being an intern, but there are a couple of things I did that stick out to me personally.
First, I was able to perform an original song about MLK/RFK Memorial Park in front of the mayor of Indianapolis. It was so cool and I would have never thought in a million years that would happen.
Also, I got to do my first music video! I’ve always had a dream of being in a music video, and I got to live out that dream. We created a place-based music video about the “Sound Cave,” the recording studio at the Harrison Center.
After getting to have these experiences at the Harrison Center, I’m excited to be back on the team. My favorite parts of my life right now are managing my time wisely, focusing on important relationships within my circle, and traveling a lot more. I'm super grateful I’ve been able to see new things!
