Flower Power: A Knit Graffiti Project

KnitGraffiti-07.png

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming popularity of this project, we are out of supplies, though we will still be accepting completed petals! Thanks for your support!

We at the Harrison Center want to encourage beauty and creativity in this time. As many of our community members are isolated and lonely, especially older neighbors, we are organizing a community yarn flower installation, which we will install for walkers to appreciate.

Two ways to participate:

1. Make a single flower petal. We will assemble all of the petals into gigantic flowers. We are mailing yarn, crochet needles, and instructions to any community members who are interested in participating as long as supplies last.  You may also use whatever acrylic yarn you have on hand. They can follow instructions to use this time to work on crochet petals, which we will then collect.

Downloadable Instructions Here

2. Create as many flowers as you would like!

You use any flower pattern you like, but the flowers need to be large ( at least 4 inches across) . Both knitted and crocheted flowers will be accepted, but please use only use acrylic yarn. We have acrylic yarn available for those who need it as long as supplies last.

When you are done with your petals or flowers, please mail to:

Harrison Center: Sarah Peacock

Indianapolis IN 46202

Our hope is to collect many petals and flowers to create a large yarn flower garden installation, and that this will remind you that you are part of something larger.

In this time of social distancing, we can still find ways to remain connected.
