Social Distance Internships! Update #2

The Harrison Center can’t do what we do without our amazing interns! Whether they’re creating original music and videos, planning events, or helping us with creative placemaking projects, they bring so many skills to the team. So, we’ve been so grateful many of them have been able to complete their internships remotely until we can come back to the office. Last week we updated you on what the video and music interns were up to! This week, we’re checking in with our special projects interns!

During quarantine I’ve been organizing the Harrison Center's SoundCloud! I definitely miss being able to work in the City Gallery with other people, but there's a lot of fascinating information about Indianapolis hidden within the music that has been exciting to learn about.

As the IMAF intern, I work to pull off one of our biggest events. Obviously, IMAF won’t be the same this year, but I have been discussing plans with the IMAF board on how to do something special (and safe!) for IMAF this year!

I just recently started my summer internship remotely! Here is a photo of how my workspace is set up. I’ve been working on a blog as well as a project syllabus for an upcoming Harrison Center project!

As we are all currently in quarantine I wasn’t quite sure how I would be able to engage with the community from home. Luckily, Joanna and Moriah came up with the wonderful idea of writing and sending letters to both the Greatriarchs and people who have been supporting the Harrison Center. I have been getting to learn about how these people have impacted the Harrison Center and then writing a personal letter thanking them for their support. This has been such a fun project for me and I am excited to continue working on it.
