Our Shot
This month of March 2021 is full of big events in the Indianapolis area! And, as always, the Harrison Center is excited to be involved in these events within the community. With the announcement of the return of the NCAA's March Madness this year, Hoosiers were happy to hear that the majority of the games would be held right here in Indianapolis, and so was the Harrison Center. That’s why our show in the Underground Gallery this month revolves around the theme of March Madness and basketball.
This show is entitled “Our Shot”, and it is full of an incredible variety of works from various artists and different mediums. As pictured above, one of the pieces in this show, Home Court Advantage, is by one of the Harrison Center’s resident artists, Kyle Ragsdale. However, pieces in this show are from a multitude of local Indiana artists. Because of the variety of artists present in “Our Shot”, there is also a wonderful assortment of mediums present in the art, everything from watercolors to acrylics to mixed media on wood. One such piece that uses mixed media on cradled wood is Kristi Marsh Watson’s series entitled Nothing but Net, partially pictured below.
But even though March Madness is at the forefront of everyone’s mind this month, there was another important event happening in Indianapolis that the Harrison Center is a part of. The weekend of March 5-7, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted a mass vaccination clinic for COVID-19. The Harrison Center is enthusiastic about keeping the Indianapolis community safe, which is why we have named our March Madness show “Our Shot”, the same name given to this vaccination clinic.
The Harrison Center is excited to present this March Madness themed show in our Underground Gallery this month! Be sure to check it out on our website, watch March Madness this month, and get vaccinated if you can. Stay safe!
