MUTATIONS OF THE SAME ESSENCE
For October, the Hank and Dolly's Gallery is exhibiting Ess McKee's show MUTATIONS OF THE SAME ESSENCE. McKee's collection of pieces is inspired by graffiti street art and incorporates different surfaces for each piece including loose canvas, chipped wood, and spray cans. She notes how she wants to give the feel of walking through an alley or seeing street art displayed on the side of a building.
McKee credits graffiti artistry as a major inspiration for her work as a whole. Referencing the shpw’s title, this is McKee's first time dedicating an entire show to that medium. And while each piece is different, they possess the same nature. Some of the larger canvases within McKee's exhibit contain words she connects with as well as her name spelled out in expressive colors.
The show can be viewed anytime in the Hank & Dolly's Gallery through the month of October: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through November.
