For the month of May, Hank & Dolly’s Gallery will be exhibiting Adrian Smith’s oil paintings. Smith makes large-scale ocean scapes and bodies of water that are imbued with emotion. His creative inspiration came from a dream in which he described seeing “beautiful waters,” and he has been trying to capture the feeling of this dream in paint ever since.

Smith enjoys the metaphorical meanings that water can represent and sees them as being connected to spirituality. “I wanted to capture God’s creation in an organic way,” Says Smith. “I want them to exude that presence to whoever is looking at my work.”

Growing up, Smith always knew he was creative, but going into the arts wasn’t a direction that he was encouraged to pursue. It wasn’t until college when he decided to take an art class, that he realized his own creative skillset. Smith ended up pursuing a minor in fine art alongside videography and his passion for art has only grown since. “Living Waters” will be Smith’s first solo show.

Living Waters can be viewed anytime during May in the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery during gallery hours: Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can additionally be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through June.
