Chapel of Love

The Harrison Center will celebrate love not just on Valentine's Day, February 14, but all month with the "Chapel of Love" exhibition in Speck Gallery.

This show features a wide range of work from 14 artists, who are making work alongside, or with, their significant others. "Chapel of Love" includes Cindy Ragsdale, Kyle Ragsdale, India Cruse-Griffin, Quintin Griffin, Jack Wickes, the late Julia Zollman Wickes, Kevin Angell, Carly Sobolewski, Nikki Owens, Quincy Owens, Morgan Binkerd, Kenny Mason, Caleb Keitt, and Elise Keitt. This unique show has a variety of visual art, such as paintings, photography, collages, sculptures, embroidery, and even writing excerpts.

Many of the works' titles allude to personal memory or the dynamics of navigating a relationship. For example, Quincy Owens' sculptures "Consistency" and "Relinquishing Expectations" explore the complexities of internal experiences with the enduring material of steel. Cindy Ragsdale's works "Philia," "Agape," and "Eros" use excerpts from short stories and poems to illustrate various kinds of love.

You won't want to miss this unique show, and you may even fall in love with the art and creative energy that fills Speck Gallery. Come experience the "Chapel of Love" for the month of February anytime Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery.
