Introspect

Introspect is a collection of work by Rebecca Robinson that celebrates the female form using tar, concrete, wood, white latex, and plaster. The uncommon mediums lend unique texture, shadows, and relief to each piece. Robinson describes her process– “as an artist, it is my duty to push the envelope and create artwork that sparks a dialog and remains timeless,”

No, Thank You

Mixed media on canvas

36" x 36"

Looking over her shoulder, the subject of No, Thank You appears to stare directly at the viewer of the image. Her skin and silhouette are smudged over a carbon black canvas in streaky white brushstrokes. Robinson intentionally rendered the stark contrast and layered texture of the image from the mediums. She says, ”My strategic use of texture and contrast, specifically with concrete and tar, makes my artistry unique.” The contrast of the black and white areas of the image form heavy shadows and lend the subject a ghost-like quality.

Enchanting

Concrete, tar, white latex on wood

24" x 48"

Enchanting features the coal-black silhouette of a woman’s body on a background smudged with crimson and white. The variegated patches of the background lend the appearance of course texture and contrast the smooth, sweeping lines of the woman.

Simply Beautiful

Concrete, tar, white latex on canvas

48" x 36

The layers of concrete and splashes of white in the background of Simply Beautiful have an industrial quality. A woman, facing away from the viewer, is seated on the floor with her legs tucked behind her. The dark lines of her silhouette contrast the white streaks that outline her body.
