In the Harrison Gallery,
Katharine B. Sutphin Invitational, an annual juried group exhibition featuring over 35 of Indianapolis’ best artists invited by the Katharine B. Sutphin Foundation. The judging panel for the invitational will include Mark Ruschman (formerly of the Indiana State Museum) and Kjell Wangensteen (Newfields). Works are varied in medium and include oil paintings, pyrography, mixed media, and aerosol. Cash prizes ranging from $4000 to $200 will be awarded to the artists who place Best in Show,1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention.
In the Gallery Annex,
Collab, a group exhibit. This exhibit showcases the collaborative spirit of Harrison Center artists, focusing on community and camaraderie through interconnected works. Each piece, a dialogue between at least two artists, embodies the essence of artistic collaboration.
In the City Gallery,
Enchanted in Indy by Kate Orr utilizes charcoal and oils to capture the unique beauty, elegance, and storybook charm of Indianapolis. From splendid I-70 sunsets to the simplicity of children feeding geese at Fort Harrison, it showcases the myriad of wonderful moments and experiences found around every corner in Indy.
In the Speck Gallery,
Visions of Music by Addie Hirschten. A series of mixed media paintings on canvas by Addie Hirschten, inspired by musical compositions from composers of African descent, selected by professional pianist Joshua Thompson. The artworks visually interpret the rhythm and mood of each piece, celebrating the legacy of the composers, with Thompson's performance enriching the opening reception.
In the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery,
TV Boy by Kenny Mason. A mixed-media exhibit that invites viewers into a journey of nostalgia. It focuses on the transformative journey from youth to adulthood through the lens of personal moments, memories, and interactions that have shaped the artist's identity.
In the Underground Gallery,
A History of Dreams: Landscapes and Places Beyond by Anne Cleary. This body of work is an emotional reaction to the natural world and a curiosity about the unseen worlds and places that exist in the spiritual realm. It is about the reflection of the firmament in the beauty of nature, the transformation of grief to joy, memory, history, and reinvention.
All shows will open at 6 pm on Friday, September 6th.
Visitors can take in-person gallery tours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Online galleries will open on September 7th. You can make an appointment or view the online galleries at harrisoncenter.org/buy-art.
Special Senior Hours are every Friday from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. No appointment is needed.

About the Harrison Center
The Harrison Center is a community-based, nonprofit arts organization that seeks to be a catalyst for renewal in the city of Indianapolis. Founded in 2001, the organization’s work is two-fold.
