Climbing Wall Under Construction

Do you like to boulder? Construction of a 109-foot climbing/bouldering wall began last week. This has been in plans for a while, but we have had to navigate the challenges of supply shortages and busy contractors. Soon, visitors will be able to climb routes installed by Andres Hernandez-Jimenez, navigating around the rooftop deck on First Fridays and select events. Stay tuned for more updates as production continues.

Artists Abroad:

Greece Residency

Thanks to the Efroymson Fund, 10 Indianapolis artists are in Samos, Greece, for an artist residency this month. The group, led by Harrison Center artist Quincy Owens with Samian artist Christos Koutsouras, have been exploring the island's culture and participating in art workshops.This is an opportunity for artists across cultures to learn from one another and engage in constructive critique. In January, the group will exhibit the new work they have created.

Glow-in-the-Dark Art

In the Speck Gallery, Christina Hollering cuts, dyes, and manipulates paper to represent bodies of water in her new show Contrived. Hollering's paper creations are colored in acid greens and hot pinks; not to mention—they glow in the dark.

This show is a reflection of humanity's effect on ecosystems. Every piece represents actual locations that Hollering has visited. Learn more about this fascinating exhibit here, and browse Contrived on our online gallery.

Welcome, Josue

Meet Josue Frasto-Gorostieta. Josue is a Herron High School intern who recently discovered his interest in Indianapolis' arts community. Josue's internship is focused on arts administration. He is currently learning about annual letters and how administrators support artists in the building.
