For the month of December, Speck Gallery is currently featuring H. Ward Miles’s oil and acrylic paintings, Heather. This self-titled show holds great personal significance to Heather, who has historically painted under the name H.Ward Miles for her entire career.

The show can be viewed anytime during the month of December in the Speck Gallery during Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through January.

Honoring Bill Rasdell

On Friday, February 2nd, from 6-9 pm the Harrison Center will host a celebration of life in the gym to honor our friend William “Bill” Rasdell who passed away in November.

Rasdell was a digital artist and photographer who holds a special place in our community’s history as the very first artist to have a studio at the Harrison Center. He was also a Greatriarch of the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood and leaves behind a legacy of using photography to tell complex stories.

Storytelling Drawing Sessions

As the year comes to a close, please note that the last Storytelling Drawing Session in 2023 will be held on December 20th from 5:30 - 7 pm, and we'll resume the sessions in 2024 on the week of January 8th.

To ensure we continue to provide the best experience for our artists and models/storytellers, we are considering changing the day and time of our weekly Storytelling Drawing Sessions in 2024. Please take a moment to fill out our survey and let us know your thoughts.

Thank you all the artists and storytellers who have participated throughout the year for making these sessions such a wonderful opportunity to connect and create together.

The Harrison Center is excited to announce the induction of six more new Greatriarchs this year. The Greatriarchs are long-term residents of the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. They are leaders, nurturers, mentors, and friends to the old and new residents of their neighborhood.

Meet Delma Williams.

"Ms. Delma is an outspoken advocate for her neighborhood. She is an active member of One Voice, the Martindale-Brightwood resident congress. She is bold, bright, and fierce. I choose the work of Emma Amos to reflect her vivid personality." - Artist Cierra Johnson
