The Painter and The Potter

For the month of February, the Speck Gallery is exhibiting The Painter and The Potter by Megan Jefferson and Corey Jefferson. Experience the synergy of this talented duo's artistry through their respective mediums, painting and ceramics. The couple's work is disparate in medium yet harmonious in style and message, with serene oil paintings alongside wheel-thrown ceramic sculptures.

The show can be viewed anytime during the month of February in the Speck Gallery during Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through March.

Playwriting Partnership with Second Act

The Harrison Center is thrilled to announce our partnership with the Second Act Playwriting Project. Lillian Evans and Crystal Rhodes of Second Act are award-winning playwrights and authors with over four decades of creative writing experience.

The Second Act Playwriting Project encourages older adults to learn various aspects of stage production by increasing their knowledge of the theatrical arts through playwriting and, in the process, improving their social engagement and emotional health.

This partnership will include five playwriting classes with the Greatriarchs and a Readers Theater as a culminating event to be presented by the Second Act participants at April's First Friday.

Show & Tell Featuring Kate Oberreich

You're invited to our next Show & Tell in the City Gallery on Wednesday, February 21st, at noon. Show & Tell is a monthly series where our artist community gathers to share about upcoming exhibits, ideas, and inspiration with one another.

This month's gathering will feature artist Kate Oberreich, whose exhibit (re)current will be opening in the Harrison Gallery on March 1st. Her latest collection of mixed-media works featuring recycled materials explores themes and narratives associated with the concept of finding home and community, both literally and figuratively.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP by February 20th.

Meet the Bloombox Festival 2024 Interns

Join us in welcoming the Bloombox Festival 2024 interns Cleo Corder (left) and Amelia Smith (right).

Bloombox Festival, formerly Independent Music + Art Festival, is an annual day-long outdoor festival featuring independent local musicians and visual artists. Amazingly, the festival is always planned and coordinated by high school interns.

"As the Bloombox interns, we hope to gain hands-on experience in project management and communication. Our goal is to give others a platform and a fun, exciting, and lively 2024 Bloombox Festival." - Cleo and Amelia.
