The Way I See

For the month of March, the Hank & Dolly’s gallery is featuring Mandie Anderson’s portraits of young individuals living with disabilities. This exhibit is a unique opportunity to experience art in a new way. Anderson was inspired to make art that goes beyond the visual and is fully accessible, incorporating textures that participants are invited to touch.

Anderson is interested in shedding light on individuals who are marginalized or overlooked. All of the portraits exhibited in The Way I See are children Anderson has met through her son, who is diagnosed with autism. Each portrait includes a variety of materials that create textures as unique as the people they depict. She hopes that her artwork is a way for viewers to immerse themselves in the lives and experiences of others and understand their hopes and dreams.

Not only does The Way I See exhibit art you can touch but on First Friday, at the opening of the show, everyone was invited to make their own tactile art in response to the artwork.

The show can be viewed anytime during the month of March in the Hank & Dolly's Gallery during Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through April.
