Cindy Wingo

Cindy Wingo is an Abstract Narrative painter, whose work is part of many private and corporate collections throughout the United Sates, Europe and Japan. An Indianapolis resident, Wingo’s early artwork began as tightly realistic, specializing in portraiture before evolving into the large-scale, often colorful, acrylic and mixed media abstracts she creates today.

Wingo’s foundation in realistic drawing (and an early career in graphic design) paved the way for her decades-long exploration of abstraction. She believes you can’t 'abstract' what you can’t first 'draw.' Inspired by aerial views of land reclamation, assemblage, nature, and politics, each painting becomes a story unto itself.

"Painting has helped me navigate life’s heavier questions,” Wingo says. “I’ve always believed that we don’t choose art—art chooses us. It is my life force, my footprint, and the quiet podium of my soul. Through my work, I hope to inspire and spark honest connection."
