Welcome, Erika Blue
Erika first became acquainted with the Harrison Center through #PorchPartyIndy, aka “porching”. In the summer of 2016 she spent many Sunday afternoons on the porch of Joanna Taft’s, HC’s Executive Director. Since then she has spent countless afternoons porching and growing in community. During those initial gatherings, she overheard much about HC and our mission and has frequented First Fridays over the years. The ever-changing art shows of the building’s halls captivated her interest. At the time, she was working in Property Management. But, she always held onto the dream of diving into a career path with a little more creativity. Fast forward 5 years, after her marriage to her now husband, Shane, and the birth of their son, Jude, the opportunity finally presented itself. She is delighted to be surrounded by the art work that originally drew her in while carrying out her role as Administrative Coordinator.
Erika originally moved to Indianapolis in 2011 after living in Fairbanks, Alaska for the past 11 years. Before her move she studied Liberal Arts at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with an aspiration of becoming a professional photographer. She has always had a special interest in film photography and plans to build a dark room in their new home on the Far Eastside. During her years in Indianapolis she has grown a deep love for the city and is looking forward to expressing that through the Harrison Center.
As a first-time mom, most of Erika’s time is currently ruled by her new son, Jude. He has also been known to make his appearance around the office to melt a few hearts.
Beyond her affections for the city and photography, Erika gains joy from the outdoors and reading. You may even find her reading outdoors on occasion. Their dog, Rajah, tags along on most of their outdoor ventures with her own doggy backpack in tow. Erika is sure her affinity towards hiking, camping, and the like stems from the years she spent growing up in Alaska.
We are excited to welcome Erika Blue to join the Harrison Center family.
