Welcome Senri!

Hi! I am Senri Aoyagi and I’m excited to be one of this summer’s interns!

I grew up in St. Louis and San Diego during my childhood, then lived in Tokyo until I came to college. I had then thought of art as a hobby, but college allowed me to explore and fall in love with it to the point of pursuing it as a direction in life. A few of my inspirations include Miyazaki Hayao, Otomo Shohei, and Ai Weiwei.

I just graduated from Covenant College with a bachelor’s in Art, with concentrations in 2-D and 3-D Art. I applied for this position because the Harrison Center had come at such high recommendations from my friends and peers. I am pursuing a career in graphic design, but I have a passion for illustration. I also enjoy painting and sculpting, but my preferred medium is the ballpoint pen. Not only is it cheaper than paint, but I love the dynamic and impactful nature of it compared to pencil.

I’m super excited to explore the city as much as I can within the constrictions of the pandemic and current events, and to grow as a person and as an artist. You can stay updated through my instagram, @aori_studio!
