Thermite Glow
The Harrison Center presents Thermite Glow, a new exhibition by Chad Campbell, on view in the Hank and Dolly Gallery. This captivating collection explores the transformative power of resilience, turning adversity into beauty. Each piece is a testament to the strength that emerges from hardship, crafted from materials such as wire, crystals, piano key hammers, and various shared objects—all donated by individuals who have faced personal challenges.
Campbell's sculptures come alive with motion and metaphor. Wire figures, carefully shaped by his hands, ascend and hang in precarious positions—symbolizing the struggles and triumphs of life. These figures, some grappling with balance and others straining upward, embody the tension between hardship and hope. Despite their struggles, they press on, offering a poignant depiction of human resilience. The materials used—imbued with stories of affliction and recovery—are transformed into art that climbs, reaches, and rises, reflecting the beauty of overcoming life's challenges.
To further elevate the experience, Campbell employs colored spotlights that infuse the gallery with vibrant hues. These lights cast striking shadows and refract crystal reflections onto the walls, creating a kaleidoscope of movement and color. This dynamic interplay between light and structure deepens the emotional resonance of each piece, drawing viewers into the intricate stories embedded within the work. Thermite Glow celebrates resilience, creativity, and strength in forging beauty from struggle. Don't miss this transformative experience at the Harrison Center through the month of January.
The show can be viewed anytime in the Harrison Gallery through the month of January: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through January.
