10 Year Portfolio

For the month of March the Gallery Annex is exhibiting BRIDGE Collective Artists' 10 Year Portfolio, a collaborative show between members of the Collective, showcasing selected works from the past ten years.

In this show, the BRIDGE Collective and Mike Graves, who helped found the BRIDGE Collective and curated this show, put together a body of work that lends itself to the space. When talking with Graves, he said, "[We] really embraced the idea of time, seeing the last ten years from my work, artists I was working with, and my inspirations; the space works for it. In a big square, it doesn't work. This is almost like walking down the years, creating a narrative of time.”

With this in mind, the layout of the main hallway showcases Graves' works with Greg Steele and other artists from the collective. Steele's work, individually, explores the idea of time. Steele photographed places that no longer exist due to them being destroyed by tsunamis once he returned from his time in Japan.

When picking other works for the show, imagery, time, and emotional spaces continued to be recurrent themes, with older depictions of famous characters, faded graphics, and pop art styles coming together, like a collaged time capsule visually, but also quite literally for the works of the BRIDGE Collective showcasing the talent and skill from the Collective throughout the past ten years. Graves talked about how being caught up in time had been a unique experience when retrospectively talking about the show, viewing the idea that he had thought about for years, along with the spirit of collaboration that came from this show.

10 Year Portfolio by the BRIDGE Collective can be viewed anytime in the Gallery Annex through the month of March: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through March.
