A Pre-Enactment Mural at Monon 16

Although artist Courtland Blade doesn't typically create his artwork in the elements of the outdoors, he accepted the challenge to expand a mural on the exterior wall of True Victory Church of God in Christ, just a five minute drive east of the Harrison Center on 16th Street.

The original mural, envisioned and created by Earlham-educated artist and church member Ajia Coleman Durham, depicted people who have lived, worked and worshipped in this community for years. The congregation loved the mural and the honor it brought to the people of the neighborhood.

For the PreEnactIndy event that will take place on October 7, Church of God in Christ member and local artist Courtland Blade expanded the piece, adding more people and surroundings to the painting. The current mural activity signifies the church's commitment to neighborhood outreach and partnership with PreEnactIndy. The figures beckon others, both painted and real-life, to join this loving and accepting community. True Victory is currently raising money for building repairs to include tuck-pointing this facade.  Once the wall repair is finished, the creator of the original mural, Ajia Coleman Durham, will create a permanent mural that is sure to be a blessing to the neighborhood for years to come.

So come follow the friendly figures and attend PreEnactIndy on October 7 from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free!
