Fresh and Local
Food ConVII is just around the corner, and while we can't believe that this is the seventh year, we've learned so much over the years! What has really stood out to us is that people really do care about the food they eat and where it comes from.
This year we invited Bacon Swamp Farms, a local non-profit organization run by James Ison. With two locations, one in Broad Ripple and one in Brightwood, they strive to provide local residents with the opportunity to obtain healthy, local organic food products that otherwise might not be available to them. They also offer a variety of services including delivery of produce and plants, gardening and consulting services. Be sure to stop by and talk to them about the work they do in the community. They would love to talk to you!
In the courtyard and the gym, you will find a wide variety of organizations involved in the local food movement, excited to provide a feast of information. We are looking forward to having enthusiasts share their knowledge on topics like self-contained gardening, cooperative grocers, coffee roasting, window compost gardening, kombucha, kefir and more. Sponsored by Basic Needs Simple Solutions again this year, Food Con VII has become a favorite event and will take place on April 7th, from 6-9pm.
