From Dusk to Dawn
The City Gallery is pleased to present "From Dusk to Dawn," new work by Kristin Divers. Divers, an accomplished pastel artist, has worn many hats at the Harrison Center, as a patron, studio artist and board member. For this show, she made a break from the figurative work she has shown here in past exhibits, and focused on the cityscapes of urban Indianapolis.
A Pittsburgh native, she and her husband, have divided much of their time between Pittsburgh and Indianapolis and she has drawn inspiration from the people and places she has encountered there, as well as from travel, both in the U.S. and abroad.
In describing her work, she says, "Aesthetically speaking, I am drawn to notice and render the effects of light on elements within a given scene. Ultimately, I am energized by trying to portray an interesting perspective for the viewer.”
In this show, you will see iconic Indianapolis scenes like the Monument, the Capitol building and the Canal as well as more personal favorites such as the piece that captures fellow Harrison Center artist Quincy Owens's light sculptures or the Foundry Provisions coffee shop. Whether the subject matter is easily recognizable or more obscure, Divers portrays our city in a beautiful light.
The show opens Friday, December 1 with an artist reception from 6 to 10pm and hangs through December 29.
