Putting Down Roots, Kat Silver

The Harrison Center for the Arts, in partnership with Dr. Richard Gunderman and the Spirit & Place Festival, are proud to present Genius Loci: Herman B. Wells and the Spirit of Place this Sunday, November 13 from 1:00 to 2:00 in the City Gallery: Indy’s Urban Living Center.

What is “home?” Perhaps this word connotes some physical place that offers us refuge from the world, or maybe it brings to mind the people who call us their own. And while these are undoubtedly wonderful thoughts, what if the true essence of “home” runs deeper than bricks and mortar or a cast of characters. What if it is the spirit of a place that truly makes it “home?” Herman B. Wells, the legendary President of Indiana University, certainly thought so.

With this in mind, we would like to cordially invite you to join us as we explore the true spirit of home in Indiana. This Sunday, Dr. Richard Gunderman will pair the ideas of Wells with the evocative power of place-based Indiana artwork intended to lead us into a contemplation of home in the Hoosier state.

Walk-in welcome. RSVPs encouraged due to limited seating.

Refreshments will be provided.
