2015 Summer Celebration CAP exhibit

July 15, 16 and 17, the Harrison Center for the Arts invites you to visit our exhibit at the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration's Cultural Arts Pavilion (CAP). In partnership with Herron High School's Summer Academe, the HCA has enjoyed participating in this event for close to a decade. CAP showcases the work and programs of a host of Indianapolis arts institutions, including the Eiteljorg Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Crispus Attucks Museum and more.

Combining the classical attributes of Herron High School’s curriculum and the Harrison Center’s global vision for the arts, Summer Academe creates a unique learning experience for Indiana high school students. HCA studio artist Quincy Owens, who has been affiliated with Herron High School in a variety of teaching and administrative roles over the last ten years, currently serves as the Summer Academe Arts Integration Specialist. For the CAP event, Owens wears both artist and educator hats. Owens said, "The Cultural Arts Pavilion is a great component of Summer Celebration and a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of Indiana high school artists." Students have the opportunity to work alongside a professional artist and to see first hand what is involved in putting on a show—from choosing the work to deciding how the work will be displayed. We hope you will stop in and see the show!

The Cultural Arts Pavilion, located in the Indiana Convention Center, Rooms 130-135, is open Friday, July 15 from 10am-8pm, Saturday, July 16 from 10am-9pm, and Sunday, July 17 from noon to 6pm.
