 You may have noticed that the Harrison Gallery has been undergoing renovation in phases over the last year or so and we are excited to show you the latest improvement! Last year, when we took out the ceiling in the space, we wanted to salvage some of the framing lumber that were removed. Enter Harrison Center Executive Director, Joanna Taft, who had a big (and kind of crazy, we thought) idea.  A spectacle of wonder was what the gallery needed, and she knew just what would do the trick.

We contacted Matthew Osborn of Osborn Design & Craft and gave him quite a challenge: to design a 14 foot long table with the gallery ceiling's reclaimed wood that would be as beautiful from underneath as it was from the top. His design surpassed all expectations, but next we had to figure out how to make it fly—remember, the order was for a spectacle. After consulting engineers, finding a company that could design a lift system (Aerial Arts), and a construction manager (T. Morgan) to make it happen, our dreams have come true. As you can see, our big, beautiful, recycled wood table is a perfect addition to the gallery andcreates quite a spectacle as it descends from above.
