Round 2, Styling' and Profilin'
HCA intern Ragan Kelley, who is studying informatics at IUPUI, has been getting to know our studio artists in an unusual way. She has made it her mission to photograph our artists and create computer-designed profile silhouettes of each of them. Some were instantly recognizable to us, but others provided more of a challenge. How well do you know these local artists? Here are some hints:
Top row, left: This artist recently opened a printshop and artist cooperative on Indy's near eastside. Top row, middle: This artist painted en plein air in the Maple Crossing neighborhood this summer and is currently attending an artist residency in New Delhi. Tom row, right: This artist recently found internet fame when a video of the "Stranger Things" Halloween costume he designed for himself went viral.
Middle row, left: This long-time HCA artist's work is said to entertain entertain children and nostalgic adults in a style described as “innocent yet otherworldly.” Middle row, middle: This painter studied with Susan Hodgin and is known for his surreal landscapes. Middle row, right: Working in printmaking, book arts, painting and mixed media, this artist also curates shows at the Playful Soul.
Bottom row, left: This artist created our "Studio Visits" video series and was one of the creators of this summer's 38th and Shine interactive, community public art project. Bottom row, middle: In addition to making his own work, this artist has been teaching art to young adults with disabilities for over a decade. Bottom row, right: The featured artist in the Harrison Gallery and Annex this month, this artist is also the Harrison Gallery curator.
