Cultural Entrepeneurs

Developing the next generation of leaders.

The Cultural Entrepreneurship program cultivates essential skills and helps develop the next generation of leaders and problem solvers.

Since 2008, the Harrison Center has engaged youth through our Cultural Entrepreneurship intern program, aimed at high school and college students.

This program provides opportunities for nearly 50 interns each year to develop soft skills, engage in programming at the Harrison Center, and work on special projects aligned with their interests. During the school year, interns primarily come from local institutions, while the summer program attracts students from across the heartland.

Participants learn a five-step framework:

1. See a need

2. Take a risk

3. Leverage resources

4. Invest energy

5. Network to build culture in the city

This framework helps them build the skills necessary to bring their innovative ideas to life.

By the end of their internships, these emerging professionals gain a profound appreciation for the arts and culture in Indianapolis and a passion for making a positive impact in their community. Past interns have returned to the Harrison Center for full-time positions or pursued fellowships to further develop their skills.
