May 2017: The Right Angle

The Harrison Center’s 36 artists open their doors for the second open studio night of 2017. In the galleries: Artists Hannah Barnes, Phillip Lynam, Owens + Crawley, John Berry and Quincy Owens explore geometric abstraction in the group show, The Right Angle in the Harrison Gallery. City Gallery features Places, recent work by Courtland Blade. In the Speck Gallery, photographer and mixed media artist Katie Basbagill turns her camera on herself to document a late-stage cancer diagnosis in CUTS: A mixed media exposé on rogue cells. The Gallery Annex features Tammie Hildreth’s Flight Patterns. Herron School of Art + Design seniors Sara Todd and Melissa Capriglione display their thesis show, Knight/Light. In the Underground: Teen Arts Council group show. The work hangs through May 26.

Also that night, the Harrison Center and Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of the 500 Forward community partnership initiative invite you to the Indy 500 Porch Party kickoff celebration. Join us under the big tent for live music by Emma Hall and Ray Wyatt, porch décor demos, porch furniture by Indy Urban Hardwood and Snyder Woodcraft, and more.

At 7:30, the Indianapolis Choral Artisans perform in the sanctuary.
