The Carina Nebula is locate in a spiral arm of our Milky Way Galaxy, inside the southern constellation Argo Navis. The constellation was officially named by the Alexandrian astronomer Ptolemy after the ship of the infamous Jason and the Argonauts. However, historians believe the name was actually first derived from the Egyptians who identified the constellation as the Boat of Osiris in 1,000 BCE.
