Revolutions and Revelations

The concept behind Tom Peck’s exhibition Revolutions and Revelations resonates deeply with the idea that every piece of wood carries within it a story waiting to be unveiled. Perhaps it’s Peck’s background in graphic design or his vast musical talents that enable him to reveal that story.

The show can be viewed anytime during the month of September in the Hank & Dolly's Gallery during Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can additionally be viewed through our online gallery.

Meet Caroline

Join us in welcoming Caroline Park as one of our newest fall interns.

Caroline is a multimedia artist based in greater Indianapolis. She received her B.A. in studio art with what she calls a "pseudo" English minor from Wheaton College in Illinois.

Focusing primarily on illustration, her work seeks to translate the in-betweens of human experience using the in-betweens of creative language, and to widen spaces of tenderness in others and herself.

She currently calls her role with the Harrison Center, a renaissance woman, managing odds and ends including artist interviews, event photography, website work, and installation of gallery pieces.

2023 Greatriarchs:

Karl Fredericksen

The Harrison Center is excited to announce the induction of six new Greatriarchs this year. The Greatriarchs are long-term residents of the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. They are leaders, nurturers, mentors, and friends to the old and new residents of their neighborhood.

Meet Karl Fredericksen.
"Mr. Karl is very interested in ancestry, and has no problem sharing about it. He researches in the library to find out all he can about his predecessors. His ancestors were black slaves and white slave owners. This inspired me to choose Aaron Douglass’s Into Bondage for Karl’s background. Much like Karl, Into Bondage depicts the tragic circumstances of slavery, with underlying hope and strength. The star symbolizes the North Star from the Bible, giving hope to the person it radiates on that there will be salvation. Karl believes with unwavering faith that God has let him live for a reason.." - artist Danielle Harrell

Salsa Verde: Call for Submissions

The Harrison Center is excited to announce “SALSA VERDE” as the color theme for its annual group show, a partnership with the Latino Artist Mentorship Program (LAMP)! This year, we are seeking submissions celebrating your interpretation of “Salsa Verde.” Whether your work is inspired by flavorful tomatillos and green chiles or the vibrant freshness of the color itself with its natural range of earthy and emerald hues, we look forward to seeing what you come up with!

To be considered, entries must be artwork that incorporates the color green. The show opens from 6 pm to 9 pm on Friday, December 1st, and the work hangs through the month of December.

Momma Said by raiiinydayss

Enjoy this Summer 2023 release from Harrison Center intern Rain Taylor aka raiiinydayss.

Momma Said is based on a piece of advice given to Greatriarch, Miss Eleyes Reeves, by her mother when she was just beginning her art career. Reeves would go on to run an art gallery for a time before pursuing other avenues of art, such as creating a magazine. This song is inspired by the love that comes from having someone believe in you and is a reminder that even if you feel like you can’t make it, you should keep dreaming because you never know what’s right around the corner for you.
