FINE

For the month of April, the Harrison Gallery is exhibiting Tashema Davis’s oil and acrylic self-portraits. FINE is a brave body of work that stems from Davis’s journey toward addressing her own mental health. Symbolism plays an important role in Davis’s work. Two prominent symbols in this body of work are smiley face balloons and goldfish which explore Davis’s relationship to joy in this season of her life.

The show can be viewed anytime during the month of April in the Harrison Gallery during Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through May.

Also, no need to worry if you think you missed your chance to purchase artwork from March's exhibits, because you can still browse and purchase in the online gallery.

Community Preservation in Martindale-Brightwood

The Harrison Center enjoyed an exciting day of family fun and community health education at Martin University this weekend. We celebrated the incredible strides that Martindale-Brightwood has made in the quest for environmental justice and to improve the lives of local residents.

We provided arts activities and also collected oral histories. Thank you to the NAACP, Citizens Energy Group, Martin University, and our other partners for putting this event together.

Porch Party Kick-Off with Indianapolis Motor Speedway

On May 3rd, join the Harrison Center and Indianapolis Motor Speedway for First Friday and our annual Porch Party Indy Kick-Off!

Also featured will be Open Studio Night, Indy Flow Jam, Suspended Animation Aerials, El Sistema, a race flag pennant making class, food trucks, and live music. Pick up your free porch party decor and yard signs while they last.

Nocturnes

Allen Bannister’s Nocturnes is an ode to the hidden bits of nature throughout his city, focusing on scenes of natural beauty throughout Indianapolis under the shroud of night. Bannister is a self-proclaimed city-dweller but is a nature lover at his core. He uses dark charcoal drawings to highlight aspects of the city that are often overlooked in broad daylight.
