Help us Commission Public Art |
Remember this building? Thanks to community support and creativity, Polk Stables has transformed from an abandoned site into COhatch Polk Stables and Polklore Micro-Museum.
Now, we're on a mission to create public art including murals with local artists and supported with oral histories using augmented reality technology. But we need your help! If we raise $50,000 by September 14th, the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority will provide a matching grant of $50,000, but ONLY if we meet our goal. Donate now to make a lasting impact.

Hello there, my name is Joshua Williams! I am a visual artist originally from inner-city Baltimore and now Saint Louis. Currently, I'm doing a 10-week residency with the Harrison Center.
My studio practice work consists of large-scale drawings and paintings. I mix gestural and intuitive lines with splattered marks of saturated paint on unevenly cut surfaces. Buried within these surfaces are different kinds of written languages interspersed with characters (some that are made up, others historical, and others a mix of both). The core reason I make this is to create a cross-cultural visual language that mixes Ancient historical societies (Ancient Near East, Greco-Roman, etc.) with Contemporary culture (Hip-hop, graphic novels, etc).
Learn more about Joshua and his work on our blog. |

Hi, my name is Will Anderson. I’m from northern Indianapolis and am a videography intern at the Harrison Center! I’ve been shooting videos for various musicians and student organizations at Purdue, where I’m double majoring in marketing and film and video production. I’m very passionate about film and intend to pursue a career in the industry.
I enjoy a variety of hobbies, including traveling to new places, attending concerts, hiking, camping, playing guitar, snowboarding, running, playing video games, watching movies, fishing, and many other fun activities. Above all, I love to create, whether producing videos, making music, writing, or any other form of expression. Bringing an idea from my mind into reality gives me a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment. Therefore, having the opportunity to create for the Harrison Center in one of my favorite ways is incredibly exciting for me.

Over the years, Kayla Harvey has painted hundreds of beetles. She likes to start her paintings with a reference image from “The Book of Beetles” to get the shape and then adds a whimsical selection of colors. When completing a painting, she imagines the beetle peering back at her and tells her its name. No matter how many beetles she makes and meets, "there will always be more real beetles crawling around our globe, just living their best beetle lives". Learn more on our blog. The show can be viewed anytime in the Hank & Dolly's Gallery through the month of July: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed and purchased on our online gallery through August. |
