Chapel of Love: A Group Show
|
The Harrison Center will celebrate love not just on Valentine's Day, February 14, but all month with the "Chapel of Love" exhibition in Speck Gallery. This show features a wide range of work from 14 artists, who are making work alongside, or with, their significant others.
Many of the works' titles allude to personal memory or the dynamics of navigating a relationship. For example, Quincy Owens' sculptures "Consistency" and "Relinquishing Expectations" explore the complexities of internal experiences with the enduring material of steel. Cindy Ragsdale's works "Philia," "Agape," and "Eros" use excerpts from short stories and poems to illustrate various kinds of love.

Urban Indianapolis & Beyond |
For the month of February, City Gallery is exhibiting Urban Indianapolis & Beyond by Diane Staver, a collection of bold, colorful urban artworks pulsing with the dynamic energy of city life.
Since she was five years old, Diane Staver has devoted herself to art. She studied painting in college, taught art for thirteen years as a professor at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, and created bold, graffiti-inspired artwork in her own distinctive style. Her work is inspired by the urban environments around her, using bright, bold colors and flattened forms to depict the raw energy of city life.
