Fallow Ground In City Gallery this month, Eliza Mowery's Indianapolis landscape paintings glow with dappled light in her newest exhibit Fallow Ground. Screenprinting with Jay Berrones  The Harrison Center provided artists and interns with a screenprinting class with our visiting artist Jay Berrones. They all enjoyed the amazing facilities at Cat Head Press. The group experimented with applying mixed media materials to fabric, and learned new techniques to diversify their art practices. Jay is an artist based in Mexico City who focuses in collage and screen printing. He has spent his summer working with the  Harrison Center, leading our TeenWorks interns and geting to know our community.  New Horizons Joy Hernandez is taking everyone on a space odyssey with New Horizons, a whimsical exhibit of astronaut and planet paintings. This Gallery Annex exhibit features a character Hernandez named Bean on a "space voyage of escapism." Volunteer Sign-up A Celebration Animation Last week we celebrated the 59th Rasheeda's Freedom Day with Greatriarch Miss Joanna, her family, friends, and members of WFYI's production team. HC intern Abraham Fields created an original animation to honor the event's anniversary and Miss Joanna's story. Included are illustrated vignettes of nostalgic childhood moments inspired by the Rasheeda's Freedom Day 2021 film. The film Rasheeda's Freedom Day was produced by the Harrison Center and directed by Dija Henry. It is currently making the film festival circuit. In July, it received honors from the Toronto International Film Festival for "Best Short Film U.S.A. by a Black Director." Donate to the Harrison Center Donate
