Last week we celebrated the 59th Rasheeda's Freedom Day with Greatriarch Miss Joanna, her family, friends, and members of WFYI's production team. HC intern Abraham Fields created an original animation to honor the event's anniversary and Miss Joanna's story. Included are illustrated vignettes of nostalgic childhood moments inspired by the Rasheeda's Freedom Day 2021 film.
The film Rasheeda's Freedom Day was produced by the Harrison Center and directed by Dija Henry. It is currently making the film festival circuit. In July, it received honors from the Toronto International Film Festival for "Best Short Film U.S.A. by a Black Director." |
