Visual Chronicles

This October will be the 7th annual exhibition of The IU Health CompleteLife show, an exhibit of more than 30 artworks made by cancer patients and caregivers. The Simon Cancer Center provides patients with holistic care, including art therapy sessions where individuals can process their life circumstances and share their stories in a meaningful way.

CompleteLife exhibits how art can be a powerful outlet that allows viewers to empathize with others. This year's theme is Visual Chronicles, in which viewers can enter the unique life stories of these artists.

This exhibit has a variety of mediums, including mixed media, painting, and sculpture. Many of the works in this exhibit hold themes of transition, identity, hope, and loss as caregivers and patients process the formative experiences that arise throughout their treatment. These works of art commemorate the complexity of each individual and the journeys they are on and invite viewers to experience the power of creative expression. Many of the artworks include writing from the artists that allow viewers to have even more insight into the stories and inspiration behind the art.

Visual Chronicles can be seen anytime in the Underground Gallery through October during Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The works can also be viewed on our online gallery through November.
