Meet Hameedat Akintunde
My name is Hameedat Akintunde, and I'm a senior at Herron-Riverside High School. I was born and raised in Nigeria, and I traveled a lot with my mother as a kid. It has always been my dream to travel the world because I like learning about other cultures. This prompted my love for the Aviation industry, and I would like to become a pilot in the future. Once I'm done with high school, I plan on going to Purdue University and majoring in Professional flight.
I was part of a program called BLATINA. It's a STEM exposure program for Black and Latina girls interested in STEM careers. I'm currently a member of the National Honors Society (NHS) at my high school, and we volunteer to help around my school and also the community. My favorite class at school is French because we all learn the language without any judgment. I would like to describe myself as an open and honest person who believes in fair treatment.
I'm currently interning at the Harrison Center because I love making and watching other people make art. That's why I'm thrilled to be here, and I can't wait to meet new people and artists. I will also get to increase my knowledge and networking skills. I chose this center due to my interest in the arts, and it was a good way for me to gain some work experience while in high school. While I'm an intern here, I hope to learn more about art and the thoughts behind the works of an artist.
