Spring Suggestions
Indianapolis is full of options to keep busy. Being a city that attracts a visitors from all over the world for conferences, sports, music, we are bustling with activity. To say the least, there's plenty to do. Now that spring weather has decided to show up, here are a few recommendations for you to check out for the rest of April and May.
People for Urban Progress: Tonight - April 12, 6-10pm. MAKE Your City; Make it Happen, 5x5 Arts and Innovation Competition
People for Urban Progress is giving away $10,000 to one of five finalists for the best idea on how to make Indianapolis better. Hosted at Indianapolis Fabrications (1125 Brookside Ave, Suite G50), this 21+ event will have food for purchase from Duos, Just Pop In!, New Day Meadery and Flat12 Bierwerks with live music by Jared Thompson and Premium Blend. The Arts and Innovation Competition is a yearlong series of four themed idea-pitching events funded by Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), the Efroymson Family Fund and the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation. Trapped! at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, Weekends beginning April 19-May 4, 2013
Benjamin Harrison has a special place in our hearts (note, it's the Harrison Center for the Arts). Located in our neighborhood, Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site in collaboration with Candlelight Theatre presents three one-act plays as you rotate through three rooms of the Harrison mansion, lit by candles. Trapped! features Agatha Christie’s drama “The Rats”, Lucille Fletcher’s masterpiece “Sorry, Wrong Number”, and Shirley Jackson’s mystery “The Summer People”. FINAL FRIDAYS, Indianapolis Museum of Art, 6-11pm, April 26th, May 31st
Every last Friday of the month the IMA extends its hours, throws in a DJ, and opens up a cash bar for you to experience the museum in a new and refreshing light - night. With special guest performances, different activities and unique tours, the IMA offers the community a great opportunity to view world renowned art in their galleries for free. Check out the details.

The summer farmers markets is back! Enjoy getting your fresh produce and local yummies every Wednesday. The market takes up an entire city block in the street between the City Market and the City-County Building, and Whistler Plaza, every Wed, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, May 1 to Oct. 30 (rain or shine). IDADA First Fridays: May 3rd 6-10pm
Hopefully you know the drill by now. At the City Gallery and Harrison Center for the Arts it's open studio in May which means you can tour artist studios as well as see our four, unique galleries. The Harrison Center offers an opportunity to view art in an unassuming and approachable environment. Complimentary food and beverage is available. Cultural Trail Celebration, "Get Down On It", May 11
It's a world famous city amenity that Indianapolis has. The Cultural Trail, an urban pathway, connects bicyclists and pedestrians to neighborhoods, Cultural Districts, and entertainment amenities, and serves as hub for the central Indiana greenway system. The trail is nearly complete after 12 years of planning and construction! And on May 11th come celebrate its official completion.
