The Mother Artist Market
The Harrison Center is excited to announce that the Mother Artist Market, hosted by the Mother Artist Project, will be held from 6:00 to 10:00 in the Harrison Center Underground on the First Friday of May.
The Mother Artist Project (MAP), the brainchild of Harrison Center artist Erin Hüber, began with the birth of her first child in the midst of her pursuit of artistic vocation. MAP seeks to ponder the depths of what it means to create art while also navigating the responsibilities of motherhood. “I love being a mother, and I love art,” Hüber explained. “I love it so much that I created MAP. I look at it as a well of inspiration… a database of creative women. This project was created to inspire, to create a sisterhood of artists.”
The Mother Artist Market is one of the many ways MAP is seeking to promote women in the arts. The market, complete with art, jewelry, pottery, live music, flowers, and a variety of other handcrafted items all made by mother artists, brings to the Harrison Center a unique blend of community for women seeking to do what they love as they raise children they love.
