Welcome, Penn & Palate!
The 16th Street corridor is booming and people, as well as local businesses, are noticing. In the past few years, 16th Street has seen businesses like Foundry Provisions, the Thirsty Scholar, Tinker Street, and Tinker Coffee Roasters rise from what was once a stretch of vacant buildings and urban decay. Well folks, the family of local businesses is growing once again as Penn & Palate takes up residence in the first floor of the Piccadilly building at 16th & Pennsylvania Streets.
This May, the owners of the Legend Classic Irvington Café are taking their eastside eats to Herron Morton. This new local eatery called Penn & Palate is bringing to 16th Street what head chef Bill Julian calls “contemporary comfort food,” and boy, does sound tasty! We’re talking everything from roasted grape panzanella salad to scallion corn cakes with all offerings crafted with locally sourced ingredients. For Indianapolis Hoosiers, this food is sure to taste like home.
Drawn by the progressing redevelopment, the neighborly focus of the King Park area, and the prevalent culture centered around the arts, Penn & Palate, we believe, will feel right at home as they serve both the Old Northside, and Herron-Morton Place. So let's make them feel welcome!
